Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) has already proposed the Office of the Council of State about an amendment of anti-doping laws. This move was after the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) declared last week Thailand non-compliant with the 2021 Anti-Doping Code, along with Indonesia and North Korea.
This declaration means that Thailand and the two countries will not be allowed to hold any international tournaments and their national flags will also not be flown at any international sporting events.
Fired-up Burevestnik Almaty, going down 2-3 to South Gas Club in their opening encounter last Friday, overpowered Thailands Nakhon Ratchasima QminC VC 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-22) to gift the first loss to the hosts on the third day of group round-robin preliminaries in the 2021 Asian Mens Club Volleyball Championship at Terminal 21 Hall on Sunday.
Veteran Vitaliy Vorivodin chipped in with 15 points including 13 attacks, while Amorntep Konhan led Nakhon Ratchasima with similar 15 points from exceptional spikes.
Burevestnik Almaty, strengthened by six players who joined the Kazakhstan national team in the recent Asian Senior Men’s Championship in Chiba, Japan, got off to a solid start in the first set, utilising their height advantage at the net to overwhelm Nakhon Ratchasima with scintillating blocks and sharp cross-court attacks. With the 196cm-tall Sergey Rezanov a constant threat from spike range, the momentum was with the Kazakh side as they took the first set 25-18.

After such a lamentable opening, Nakhon Ratchasima started the second set looking far more settled as impressive hustling from captain Wanchai Tabwises. Still, the Kazakhs proved steadier at the final assault for the hard-fought 25-21 win in the set.

In the third set, Burevestnik Almaty regained the initiative as they quickly led from start to finish for an exceptional 25-22 win to hand the first loss to Nakhon Ratchasima, which made it two in a row in their first two matches.
“Today I changed my line sheet and with this team, I expect an aggressive match. They brought us to the desirable result today. Nakhon Ratchasima have already played two matches and we watched their matches and had a good analysis of their team before battling them out. We have two more matches that I hope we can overcome the rivals to be the semifinalist,” Burevestnic Almaty head coach Alexander Zapevalov commented.

Amateur Ramil Saelim outlast Pannarai Meesom-us in the fifth play-off to win the third leg of the Bt3 million Thailand Mixed hosted by TrustGolf at the Lake View Resort and Golf Club in Cha-Am on Sunday.
The 16-year-old boy from Phitsanulok and the 17-year-old girl from Chonburi were neck-and-neck as each dominated the leaders’ board on 13 under-par-275 after 72 holes in regulation. Both were extended to four extra holes, but neither was able to shoot a score to gain the upper-hand.
It was until in the fifth duel on the 18th hole that the Lady of Luck finally chose the winner. Pannarai’s five-foot par putt curled around the hole but never sank in. The younger Ramil then sent home a two-foot par putt to seal off the victory – his best win up to date.

“I’m so proud of myself to hit 13 under. I was training hard for this match and I’m happy that it paid off,” said Ramil who signed off with a final round 67.
In fact, Ramil just won the TrustGolf Amateur Qualifier event at this same course last week which earned him a berth into this pro event. Ramil is also the product of four-time Asian Tour winner Chapchai Nirat whose ending bogey cost him the chance for the play-off with his protégé.

“I was so excited every time we went to the play-off. Every shot I made really counted. I hit the iron well which really helped,” the promising boy said. “I also have to thank pro Chapchai for teaching me short game and Pro Tony Bulsombath for his techniques,” added Ramil, the first amateur to win on the TrustGolf Tour.
However, due to his amateur status, Ramil is not eligible for the winner’s cheque of Bt450,000 which automatically fell into the hand of Pannarai. The latter was a bit overwhelmed after losing the close fight.

“All in all, it was beyond my expectation. I didn’t expect to join the lead or to go to the play-off as I was so exhausted playing consecutive events. However, I already gave my all out there,” said Pannara who finished with a 66.
“But I feel more positive after this event. I feel less pressure and have a new mindset. I like to compete and I will try to apply what I’ve learned from this week in my next event,” she added. Chapchai, co-winner of the previous Thailand Mixed event in April, suffered an ending bogey which deprived him of the play-off chance. The former Asian Tour star, after an inconsistent round, settled with a 72 and a total 12 under-par-276 for joint third along with 17-year-old girl Chanaettee Wannasaen and Thai LPGA member Chommapat Pongthanarak.
While Ramil also won the best male amateur category, the best female amateur trophy went to Eila Galitsky from Chiang Mai after she fired a total 286 for tied 28th place alongside Pannapa Polnamin.
The fourth leg of the TrustGolf Tour will return next month at the Black Mountain Golf Club in Hua Hin from November 16-19.

In-form Nakhon Ratchasmina QminC VC overcame a strong challenge from South Gas Club to pull off a dramatic 3-1 (30-28 27-29 25-21 25-20) victory for their second win in Pool A in the 2021 Asian Mens Club Volleyball Championship at Terminal 21 Hall on Saturday.

Both teams fought tooth and nails to level at 24-24 in the close first set and after that traded fierce attacks. At 28-all, Nakhon Ratchasima still performed well in a brilliant rally to move ahead 29-28 and left-hander Amorntep produced a powerful jump serve to end the South Gas Club’s challenge in the hard-fought battle.

It was a similar script in the second set when South Gas Club picked things up and fought back hard to catch Nakhon Ratchasima at 24-24 and 27-27. However, with Cuban Alferedo Zequeira Qairo looking more influential as he wen on a scoring spree, the Iraqi team fared better this time to score back-to-back points for the 29-27 win in this hotly-contested set.
Amorntep still powered through the third set, coming up with powerful jump serves and devastating attacks to help move Nakhon Ratchasima ahead 22-18. Indomitable Al-Arabi Sports Club proved a cut above Diamond Food as the Qataris pulled out a sensational 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-20) win in their first match in the 2021 Asian Mens Club Volleyball Championship at Terminal 21 Hall here on Saturday.
Serbian Konstantin Cupkovic emerged as the top scorer of Al-Arabi Sports Club after contributing 24 points for the Qataris including 19 attacks from 26 attempts, while Brazilian Felipe Bandero added 16 points. Kantapat Koonmee led Diamond Food on the team’s losing side.
Diamond Food, led by Kantapat Koonmee, tried hard to tactically and technically match the mighty Al-Arabi Sports Club, strong with the likes of powerful Konstantin Cupkovic and strongly-built Felipe Bandero. The superb duo showed their heroic efforts as they used their incredible reach and leap to punish the host team with some powerful spikes. Diamond Food responded with fine attacks from talented Kantapat and Kissada Nilsawai, but their fightback was short-lived as the Qataris attacked relentlessly from all angles to win the nail-biting first set 25-23.

Al-Arabi Sports Club still took command in the second set, with Georgiev Borislav carrying out terrific jump serves which allowed the host side difficulties to receive. Despite putting up a gallant fight, Diamond Food found the strong visitors uncatchable to go down 17-25.

The third set also went the Qatari way. As Al-Arabi surged ahead with a four-points advantage at 21-16, the Thais tried to claw their way back into game, but the Qataris pulled clear to take the set 25-20.
After the match, head coach of Al-Arabi, Argentine Juan Cichello, said, “We won but we faced some challenges in some moments. For the first match of any events, it should be natural as it takes time for the players to get adapted and work as a team particularly when they had no time to train. Some players just joined us in this tournament. I am happy with the result as it helps us advance and move clearer to our goal.”

Chapchai Nirat eyed on back-to-back Thailand Mixed titles after he shot a third round 67 for a shot advantage over promising girl Chanettee Wannasaen in the Bt3 million Thailand Mixed hosted by TrustGolf at the Lake View Resort and Golf Club in Cha-Am on Saturday.
The 38-year-old from Phitsanulok, who shared the title with his close friend Prom Meesawat (due to bad light) in the previous TrustGolf Tour event in April, carded seven birdies against two bogeys to total 12 under-par-204 amidst the drizzles at the par 72 layout, 6,915 yards for the men and 6,269 for the women.
“I just decided to use a new putter three minutes before the tee-off and somehow it worked well with me,” said Chapchai who hadn’t played any tournament since he won the second Thailand Mixed event six months ago in Chiang Mai. The 4-time Asian Tour winner has been busy with his golf academy at home and hardly had time for practice.

However, the basic golf lessons that he kept telling his students and his big-hitting style proved very beneficial for him this week.
“I still lack in confidence as I started practising a few days before the tournament. But having long drive really helps me on this course. Obviously, a lot of big hitters are on the leaders’ board,” said Chapchai who despite his extensive experience in the golf circuits, never writes off the chance of others to win the title on Sunday.

“These young golfers hit big and have modern golf game. On any given day, they can hit 7-8 under and turn things around. As for myself, I need to really concentrate with my game and hope for the best,” the one-time European Tour winner said.
The up-and-coming Chanettee, with four birdies against a lone bogey on the 11th hole, shot a third round 69 and trailed just one stroke on 11 under-par-205. The 17-year-old from Chiang Mai has posted several top 10 finishes this season including a victory in the Thailand LPGA Qualifier and a runner-up position in the Thai WPGA event here at the Lake View last month.

“I’m not very happy with my putts today especially at the front nine. I will have to be more careful with my putts on Sunday,” said Chanettee who is never feared to play alongside the highly-profiled Chapchai in the Sunday’s final group.
“I would rather try to learn from him as much as possible. Of course, my goal is to win but I will not let myself under pressure,” the teenager said.
Halfway leader Kanyalak Preedasuttijit, struggling with her short game all day, had to be content with a round of 74 and nine under-par-207 overall to seize the third position.

Thailand along with North Korea and Indonesia were declared non-compliant by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) on Thursday, a report from Reuters said.
This ruling makes the three countries ineligible for hosting regional, continental or world championships. Thai, North Korean and Indonesian representatives will also not be allowed to sit at boards or committees until their countries have been reinstated or for one year, whichever is longer.
The three national flags will also not be flown at regional, continental or world championships, or at other major events except for the Olympics and Paralympics. This applies to the next edition of the events or until the countries are reinstated, whichever is longer.
A statement from WADA said Thailand’s non-compliance stems from the Thailand National Anti-Doping Organisation (NADO)’s failure to fully implement the 2021 Anti-Doping Code.
“Unlike Indonesia and North Korea, which were banned for blatantly using doping substances, Thailand was ruled non-compliant only because we failed to adhere to WADA’s timeframe of anti-doping testing,” said Thana Chaiprasit, Thailand’s Olympic chef de mission. “WADA stipulates that the test be performed any time of the day, while Thailand’s anti-doping standard only allows testing from sunrise to sundown.
“I believe this problem can be fixed through discussion with related agencies and adjusting the regulations accordingly, so there’s nothing to worry about,” he added.
Major sports events next year that Thai athletes will participate in include the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing (February 4-20), the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games 2021 in Bangkok (March 10-20), the World Games 2022 in the United States (July), the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam (August) and the 19th Asian Games in China (September).
The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) said it will amend all anti-doping laws after the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) declared Thailand non-compliant with the 2021 Anti-Doping Code.
The other two countries marked non-compliant are North Korea and Indonesia.
This declaration means that Thailand and the two countries will not be allowed to hold any international tournaments and their national flags will also not be flown at any international sporting events.
SAT governor Kongsak Yodmanee said the sports authority has acknowledged WADA’s declaration and discussed the option of amending legislation related to doping with law expert Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam.
