Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has allowed schools to offer on-site classroom starting from Monday (November 15), after over 80 per cent of secondary school students in the province have been vaccinated against Covid-19 and the number of daily infections have declined continually.

“Schools that will reopen must comply to Ministry of Education’s “Sandbox: Safety Zone in School” measures, which include the implementation of DMHT-RC and SSET-CQ practices,” said Bangkok governor Aswin Kwanmuang on Sunday via a facebook post.

The DMHT-RC refers to Distancing, Mask wearing, Hand washing, Testing for Covid, Reducing crowdedness, and Cleaning. Meanwhile, the SSET-CQ practices include Self-care, using serving Spoon, Eating hot foods, Tracking movement, Checking oneself, and Quarantine.

“Each classroom will have not over 25 students. Schools may consider offering one-site classroom every other day and providing online classroom if necessary,” said Aswin.

“In case a new patient was found in a classroom, BMA will issue an order to shut down the class for three days for cleaning,” he added. “If patients were found in more than one classes, the school may consider shutting down the entire grade for three days for cleaning.”

BMA will also employ 7 anti-Covid measures for non-boarding schools provided by Ministry of Public Health, which include self-evaluating via Thai Stop COVID Plus (TSC)+ platform, organizing classroom activities in small bubbles, providing clean and nutritious food, using standardized ventilation and waste management system, preparing school isolation facility, providing sealed routes for commuting students and staff, and setting up School Pass system whereas students and staff must perform ATK tests every 7 days.

Pro-democracy protestors of Ratsadon and Anti Absolute Monarchy groups gathered at Pathumwan Intersection in Bangkok’s Pathumwan district at around 2pm of Sunday with an aim to march to the German Embassy on Sathorn Road.

Anews source revealed that protestors had previously planned to gather at Democracy Monument on Ratchadamnoen Klang Avenue, but were blocked by over 200 police officers who have been deployed around the areas, prompting them to switch the rally destination to Pathumwan Intersection instead.

The rally on Sunday reportedly aimed to protest the verdict of Constitutional Court from last Thursday which ruled that pro-democracy leaders Arnon Nampa, Panupong “Mike” Jadnok and Panassaya “Rung” Sitthichirawatanakul aimed to overthrow the government from the 10-point manifesto seeking monarchy reform that they had delivered at Thammasat University on August 10, 2020.

At 4.45pm, crowd control police officers were deployed around Pathumwan Intersection and blocked the traffic at Chaloem Phao Junction. Pedestrians were also prohibited from using the Chaloem Phao Skywalk.

At 5pm, protestors marched toward Henri Dunant Road to avoid the police.

At 6.30pm, three representatives of the groups led by Thatchaphong Kaedam submitted a letter opposing absolute monarchy system to an embassy official.

After the embassy official promised to forward the letter to the German ambassador, the protestors dispersed from the areas at around 6.50pm.

Japan opens its doors to students, businessmen #SootinClaimon.Com

Japan is allowing some groups of people to enter the country and has eased a few restrictions as of November 8. The decision was prompted by the fact that Covid-19 infections in Japan are dropping, Thailand’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Thani Sangrat said on Saturday.

Under new measures, the quarantine period has been reduced from 10 days to three for Japanese nationals, foreigners who have resident status in Japan and people travelling to the country for business or other long-term activities, provided they are fully vaccinated.

The country only recognises Pfizer, Moderna or AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines, and travellers are required to obtain approval from relevant Japanese authorities first.

Japan has also increased the limit of visas granted per day from 3,500 to 5,000.

Before entering Japan, visitors are required to provide details of their activities, which will then be verified by an agency.

The country is still not open to tourists.
