“สามารถ”เปิดเหตุผล “BTSC”ยืนหนึ่งด้านขนส่ง จากการประมูลโครงการขนาดใหญ่ด้านขนส่ง เพราะให้ประโยชน์รัฐสูงและรับเงินจากรัฐต่ำมาก

มื่อวันที่ 28 ธ.ค. ดร.สามารถ ราชพลสิทธิ์ รองหัวหน้าพรรคประชาธิปัตย์ โพสเฟซบุ๊กถึงเหตุผลที่บริษัท ระบบขนส่งมวลชนกรุงเทพ จำกัด (มหาชน) (BTSC) ชนะเกือบทุกโครงการยืนหนึ่งด้านการขนส่ง ระบุว่า

ประมูลโครงการยักษ์ด้านขนส่ง ทำไม BTSC จึงยืนหนึ่ง ?
การประมูลหาเอกชนมาร่วมลงทุนในโครงการขนาดใหญ่ด้านขนส่งที่ผ่านมา ถ้าปล่อยให้ BTSC ผ่านเข้ามาถึงการพิจารณาข้อเสนอด้านผลตอบแทน จะพบว่า BTSC ชนะเกือบทุกโครงการ เช่นเดียวกับโครงการรถไฟฟ้าสายสีส้ม ถ้าไม่เปลี่ยนเกณฑ์ประมูล และไม่ล้มประมูล ก็มีความเป็นไปได้ที่ BTSC จะชนะ !
การประมูลรถไฟฟ้า
ในปี 2559 การรถไฟฟ้าขนส่งมวลชนแห่งประเทศไทย (รฟม.) เปิดประมูลหาเอกชนร่วมลงทุนก่อสร้างและให้บริการเดินรถไฟฟ้ารางเดี่ยว (Monorail) 2 โครงการ ประกอบด้วยรถไฟฟ้าสายสีชมพู ช่วงแคราย-มีนบุรี และสายสีเหลือง ช่วงลาดพร้าว-สำโรง โดยผู้ชนะการประมูลจะต้องเป็นผู้ขอรับเงินสนับสนุนสุทธิ (เงินขอรับสนับสนุนจาก รฟม. หักด้วย เงินตอบแทนให้ รฟม.) จาก รฟม. ต่ำที่สุด
–รถไฟฟ้าสายสีชมพู
ผลการประมูลปรากฏว่า บริษัท ระบบขนส่งมวลชนกรุงเทพ จำกัด (มหาชน) หรือ BTSC และพันธมิตรเป็นผู้ชนะการประมูล เนื่องจากขอรับเงินสนับสนุนสุทธิจาก รฟม. ต่ำกว่าบริษัท ทางด่วนและรถไฟฟ้ากรุงเทพ จำกัด (มหาชน) หรือ BEM ถึง 124,658.15 ล้านบาท โดย BTSC ขอรับเงินสนับสนุนสุทธิ 19,823.23 ล้านบาท ในขณะที่ BEM ขอรับเงินสนับสนุนสุทธิ 144,481.38 ล้านบาท
–รถไฟฟ้าสายสีเหลือง
ผลการประมูลปรากฏว่า BTSC และพันธมิตรเป็นผู้ชนะการประมูล เนื่องจากขอรับเงินสนับสนุนสุทธิจาก รฟม. ต่ำกว่า BEM ถึง 135,634.75 ล้านบาท โดย BTSC ขอรับเงินสนับสนุนสุทธิ 22,087.06 ล้านบาท ในขณะที่ BEM ขอรับเงินสนับสนุนสุทธิ 157,721.81 ล้านบาท

การประมูลรถไฟความเร็วสูงเชื่อม 3 สนามบิน
ในปี 2561 การรถไฟแห่งประเทศไทย (รฟท.) เปิดประมูลหาเอกชนร่วมลงทุนและให้บริการเดินรถไฟความเร็วสูงเชื่อม 3 สนามบิน (ดอนเมือง-สุวรรณภูมิ-อู่ตะเภา) ผู้ชนะการประมูลจะต้องเป็นผู้ขอรับเงินสนับสนุนสุทธิ (เงินขอรับสนับสนุนจาก รฟท. หักด้วย เงินตอบแทนให้ รฟท.) จาก รฟท. ต่ำที่สุด
ผลการประมูลปรากฏว่า บริษัท เครือเจริญโภคภัณฑ์ จำกัด (มหาชน) หรือ CP และพันธมิตรเป็นผู้ชนะการประมูล เนื่องจากขอรับเงินสนับสนุนสุทธิจาก รฟท. ต่ำกว่า BTSC ถึง 69,466.61 ล้านบาท โดย CP ขอรับเงินสนับสนุนสุทธิ 117,226.87 ล้านบาท ในขณะที่ BTSC ขอรับเงินสนับสนุนสุทธิ 186,693.48 ล้านบาท
การประมูลสนามบินอู่ตะเภา
ในปี 2561 กองทัพเรือเปิดประมูลหาเอกชนร่วมลงทุนและบริหารจัดการโครงการพัฒนาสนามบินอู่ตะเภาและเมืองการบินภาคตะวันออก ผู้ชนะการประมูลจะต้องเป็นผู้เสนอผลตอบแทนสุทธิ (ผลตอบแทนให้กองทัพเรือ หักด้วย เงินลงทุนของกองทัพเรือ) สูงที่สุด
ผลการประมูลปรากฏว่า BTSC และพันธมิตรเป็นผู้ชนะการประมูล เนื่องจากเสนอผลตอบแทนสุทธิให้กองทัพเรือมากกว่า CP และพันธมิตรถึง 203,338 ล้านบาท และมากกว่ากลุ่ม Grand Consortium (GC) ถึง 204,652 ล้านบาท โดย BTSC เสนอผลตอบแทนสุทธิ 305,555 ล้านบาท ในขณะที่ CP เสนอ 102,217 ล้านบาท และ GC เสนอ 100,903 ล้านบาท

การประมูลมอเตอร์เวย์
ในปี 2562 กรมทางหลวง (ทล.) เปิดประมูลหาเอกชนร่วมลงทุนในการดำเนินงานและบำรุงรักษามอเตอร์เวย์ 2 สาย ประกอบด้วยสายบางปะอิน-นครราชสีมา และสายบางใหญ่-กาญจนบุรี โดยเอกชนเป็นผู้ร่วมลงทุนก่อสร้างด่านเก็บค่าผ่านทาง ติดตั้งระบบเก็บค่าผ่านทาง ระบบบริหารงานจราจร และซ่อมบำรุงรักษา โดยจะได้รับค่าจ้างเป็นผลตอบแทน ผู้ชนะการประมูลจะต้องเป็นผู้ขอรับค่าตอบแทนจาก ทล. ต่ำที่สุด ทั้งนี้ รายได้จากค่าผ่านทางจะเป็นของ ทล. 
-สายบางปะอิน-นครราชสีมา
ผลการประมูลปรากฏว่า BTSC และพันธมิตรเป็นผู้ชนะการประมูล เนื่องจากเสนอขอรับค่าตอบแทนจาก ทล. ต่ำกว่า บริษัท ยูนิค เอ็นจิเนียริ่ง แอนด์ คอนสตรัคชั่น จำกัด (มหาชน) หรือ UN และพันธมิตร 4,960 ล้านบาท และต่ำกว่า BEM 8,520 ล้านบาท โดย BTSC ขอรับค่าตอบแทน 21,329 ล้านบาท ในขณะที่ UN ขอ 26,289 ล้านบาท และ BEM ขอ 29,849 ล้านบาท
-สายบางใหญ่-กาญจนบุรี
ผลการประมูลปรากฏว่า BTSC และพันธมิตรเป็นผู้ชนะการประมูล เนื่องจากเสนอขอรับค่าตอบแทนจาก ทล. ต่ำกว่า UN และพันธมิตร 5,340 ล้านบาท และต่ำกว่า BEM 7,387 ล้านบาท โดย BTSC ขอรับค่าตอบแทน 17,809 ล้านบาท ในขณะที่ UN ขอ 23,149 ล้านบาท และ BEM ขอ 25,196 ล้านบาท

สรุป
จากผลการประมูลโครงการขนาดใหญ่ด้านการขนส่งหลายโครงการดังกล่าวข้างต้น จะเห็นว่า BTSC ชนะเกือบทุกโครงการ จึงสามารถสรุปได้ดังนี้
-การประมูลโครงการใดก็ตาม หากปล่อยให้ BTSC ผ่านเข้ามาถึงการพิจารณาข้อเสนอด้านการลงทุนและผลตอบแทน มีโอกาสสูงที่ BTSC จะชนะการประมูล เนื่องจาก BTSC กล้าเสนอผลตอบแทนสุทธิให้รัฐสูงมาก หรือขอรับเงินสนับสนุนสุทธิจากรัฐต่ำมาก 
-กรณีการประมูลรถไฟฟ้าสายสีส้ม หากไม่มีการเปลี่ยนเกณฑ์ประมูลและไม่ล้มประมูล มีความเป็นไปได้ที่ BTSC จะชนะการประมูล เพราะขอรับเงินสนับสนุนสุทธิจากรัฐต่ำมาก
-การประมูลโครงการใดก็ตาม ผู้เกี่ยวข้องย่อมรู้ดีว่าตน “ทำตามความถูกต้อง หรือทำตามคำสั่ง” ถ้าทำตามความถูกต้องก็สามารถชี้แจงข้อสงสัยได้ง่าย แต่ถ้าทำตามคำสั่งก็ชี้แจงได้ยาก คลุมเครือ และไม่ตรงประเด็น


หมายเหตุ : ข้อสงสัยดังกล่าวข้างต้นจึงเป็นข้อกังขาที่ผมและประชาชนทุกคนชอบที่จะต้องขอคำชี้แจงให้สิ้นสงสัยจากหน่วยงานที่รับผิดชอบโดยตรง ทั้งนี้ก็เพื่อปกป้องผลประโยชน์ของประเทศชาติและประชาชน ด้วยเจตนาที่จะให้ประชาชนได้รับประโยชน์จากโครงการนี้อย่างเต็มที่ โดยปราศจากข้อสงสัยใดๆ ทั้งสิ้นเท่านั้นเอง (คลิก)

สื่อประจำรัฐสภาตั้งฉายาสภาปี65 “3 วันหนี 4 วันล่ม” ขณะที่นายชวน”ชวน ซวนเซ” แต่ปีนี้ไร้ดาวเด่น ดาวดับตกที่”พี่เต้007″

เมื่อวันที่ 28 ธ.ค. ผู้สื่อข่าวประจำรัฐสภา ร่วมกันตั้ง “ฉายารัฐสภา” เพื่อสะท้อนการทำหน้าที่ของฝ่ายนิติบัญญัติตลอดปี 2565  ซึ่งเป็นธรรมเนียมปฏิบัติประจำทุกปี เนื่องจากติดตามการทำหน้าที่ของ ส.ส. และ ส.ว.อย่างใกล้ชิด เห็นการทำหน้าที่ของสมาชิกรัฐสภา 

-สภาผู้แทนราษฎร ได้รับฉายา “3 วันหนี 4 วันล่ม” 
-วุฒิสภา ได้รับฉายา “ตรา ป.”
-นายชวน หลีกภัย ประธานสภาผู้แทนราษฎร ได้รับฉายา “ชวน ซวนเซ” 
-นายพรเพชร วิชิตชลชัย ประธานวุฒิสภา ได้รับฉายา “พรเพชร พักก่อน”
-นายแพทย์ชลน่าน ศรีแก้ว ผู้นำฝ่ายค้านในสภาผู้แทนราษฎร ได้รับฉายา “หมอ(ง) ชลน่าน”

คำอธิบาย

สภาผู้แทนราษฎร “3 วันหนี 4 วันล่ม” 
เนื่องจากการประชุมของ ส.ส.ตลอดปี 2565 ประสบแต่ปัญหาสภาล่มซ้ำซาก ตั้งแต่เริ่มศักราชใหม่จนส่งท้ายปี ทำให้การทำงานล่าช้า โดย ส.ส.ฝ่ายค้าน มักเล่นเกมนับองค์ประชุม ทั้งที่ฝ่ายตนก็ขาดประชุม และ ส.ส.รัฐบาล ก็ไร้ความรับผิดชอบในการรักษาองค์ประชุมทั้งที่เป็นเสียงข้างมาก มิหนำซ้ำช่วงท้ายวาระการดำรงตำแหน่ง ส.ส.ต่างหนีลงพื้นที่ หาเสียงก่อนเลือกตั้ง ละเลยการประชุม ซึ่งถือเป็นหน้าที่สำคัญ ด้วยเหตุเหล่านี้จึงเป็นที่มาของฉายาดังกล่าว

วุฒิสภา “ตรา ป.”
เพราะตลอดปี 2565 ส.ว.ยังคงทำหน้าที่รักษามรดกคณะรักษาความสงบแห่งชาติ (คสช.) และในการลงมติพิจารณาเรื่องสำคัญแต่ละครั้ง ก็ไม่มีแตกแถว เพื่อประโยชน์ของ 2ป. คือ พลเอกประยุทธ์ จันทร์โอชา นายกรัฐมนตรี หรือ ป.ประยุทธ์ และพลเอกประวิตร วงษ์สุวรรณ รองนายกรัฐมนตรี หรือ ป.ประวิตร โดยเฉพาะในการแก้รัฐธรรมนูญ และปัจจุบัน ส.ว.ยังถูกแบ่งออกเป็น 2 ฝ่าย คือ ฝ่ายสนับสนุน ป.ประยุทธ์ และฝ่ายสนับสนุน ป.ประวิตร จนกระทั่งล่าสุด มีการเช็คชื่อแล้วว่า ส.ว.คนไหน จะสนับสนุน ป.ใด เป็นนายกรัฐมนตรี

นายชวน “ชวน ซวนเซ” 
เนื่องจากการทำหน้าที่ของนายชวน จากที่เคยได้รับความเคารพ และเชื่อฟังจาก ส.ส.รุ่นน้อง สามารถยุติข้อขัดแย้งต่าง ๆ ได้ แต่ในปีนี้กลับตรงกันข้าม คือ ถูกลดความยำเกรง ไม่ได้รับการยอมรับ และยังถูก ส.ส.ท้าทาย จนหลายครั้งกลายเป็นคู่ขัดแย้งเสียเอง ซึ่งส่วนหนึ่งเป็นผลจากการประสานงานของวิปรัฐบาลที่ไม่ดีพอ จนทำให้นายชวน ซวนเซ เสียหลักไปด้วย

นายพรเพชร “พรเพชร พักก่อน”
การทำหน้าที่ควบคุมการประชุมของนายพรเพชรตลอดปี 2565 มักโดน ส.ส.-ส.ว.ทักท้วง จนบางครั้งได้แสดงความรู้สึกไม่พอใจผ่านสีหน้า และไม่สามารถควบคุมการประชุมร่วมรัฐสภาให้เดินหน้าได้อย่างราบรื่น มักถูก ส.ส.ประท้วงว่า ทำหน้าที่สนับสนุนรัฐบาล เหมือนสมัยสภานิติบัญญัติแห่งชาติ (สนช.) มากกว่าทำหน้าที่ตรวจสอบ จึงทำให้เกิดคำถามว่า นายพรเพชร ควรพักก่อนหรือไม่? 

นายแพทย์ชลน่าน “หมอ(ง) ชลน่าน”
แม้นายแพทย์ชลน่าน จะมีความโดดเด่นในการทำหน้าที่จนได้รับฉายาดาวเด่นเมื่อปี 2564 แต่เมื่อได้ดำรงตำแหน่งหัวหน้าพรรคเพื่อไทย และทำหน้าที่ผู้นำฝ่ายค้านฯ จริง กลับหมอง การอภิปรายในสภาไม่โดดเด่นเหมือนอดีต ได้ทำหน้าที่ในนามหัวหน้าพรรคฯ เท่านั้น ขาดอิสระ

ดาวเด่น65
ในปีนี้ผู้สื่อข่าวประจำรัฐสภา เห็นว่า “ไม่มีผู้ใดเหมาะสม” และโดดเด่นเพียงพอที่จะได้รับตำแหน่งดังกล่าว 

ดาวดับ65 
นายมงคลกิตติ์ สุขสินธารานนท์ ส.ส.บัญชีรายชื่อ พรรคไทยศรีวิไลย์ ที่มีความโดดเด่นในเรื่องที่ไม่ใช่หน้าที่ของตน โหนกระแสสังคม เพื่อหาพื้นที่ให้ตัวเอง ทั้งคดีนักแสดงสาว “แตงโม”, การว่ายน้ำข้ามแม่น้ำโขงของ “โตโน่” รวมถึงกรณี “เรือหลวงสุโขทัยอับปาง” ล้วนแต่เป็นความพยายามหาซีนของ ส.ส.เต้ ทั้งที่ไม่ใช่ผู้เกี่ยวข้อง และมักแสดงความเป็นผู้เชี่ยวชาญทุกเรื่อง ทั้งที่ไม่ได้รู้จริง ดังนั้น แม้นายมงคลกิตติ์ จะพยายามหาแสงให้ตัวเองมากเพียงใด สุดท้ายก็เป็นเพียง “ดาวดับ” และตัวตลกสีสันการเมืองเท่านั้น

วาทะแห่งปี 65 “เรื่องปฏิวัติผมไม่ได้เกี่ยวข้อง นี่ครับคนปฏิวัติ..ท่านนายกฯ คนเดียว”
ซึ่งเป็นของพลเอกประวิตร วงษ์สุวรรณ รองนายกรัฐมนตรี ที่เกิดขึ้นระหว่างการอภิปรายไม่ไว้วางใจรัฐบาล เมื่อ 20 กรกฎาคม 2565 และพลเอกประยุทธ์ จันทร์โอชา นายกรัฐมนตรี ที่นั่งอยู่ข้างกัน ดูจะไม่ยี่หระกับคำพูดดังกล่าว แต่กลับยกมือ ยิ้ม ยอมรับอย่างเต็มภาคภูมิ ท่ามกลางเสียงปรบมือของ ส.ส.อย่างชอบใจ ทั้งที่ตัวเองก็มาจากการเลือกตั้ง ดังนั้น การพูด และกระทำเช่นนี้ จึงไม่ควรเกิดขึ้นในองค์กรนิติบัญญัติที่มาจากการเลือกตั้งของประชาชน และการปฏิวัติ-รัฐประหาร ยังเป็นการกระทำที่ผิดครรลอง และทำลายระบอบประชาธิปไตยด้วย
 
เหตุการณ์แห่งปี  “เกมพลิกสูตรหาร 100”
โดยมีความพยายามของ ส.ส. และ ส.ว.ทำให้การพิจารณาร่างพระราชบัญญัติประกอบรัฐธรรมนูญว่าด้วยการเลือกตั้ง ส.ส.ไม่ทันกำหนดเวลา เพื่อพลิกสูตรการคำนวณ ส.ส.บัญชีรายชื่อจากหาร 500 กลับไปเป็นสูตรหาร 100 ตามเดิม ซึ่งเหตุการณ์นี้สะท้อนให้เห็นว่า รัฐสภาทุ่มเทให้ความสำคัญ ใช้ช่องของรัฐธรรมนูญกับผลประโยชน์พรรคพวกตัวเอง เพื่อช่วงชิงความได้เปรียบในสนามเลือกตั้ง โดยไม่ได้คำนึงว่า ประชาชนจะได้ประโยชน์ใด ๆ
 
คู่กัดแห่งปี 
ได้แก่ “นายกิตติศักดิ์ รัตนวราหะ” สมาชิกวุฒิสภา และ “นายรังสิมันต์ โรม” ส.ส.บัญชีรายชื่อ พรรคก้าวไกล 
ในการประชุมร่วมรัฐสภา ที่ทั้งคู่ได้มาประชุมร่วมกัน หลายครั้งเกิดวิวาทะแบบไม่ลดลาวาศอก ไม่ว่าเรื่องเล็กหรือใหญ่ โดยเฉพาะประเด็นการกู้ยืมเงินกองทุน กยศ. ที่เริ่มต้นจากการอภิปรายของนายรังสิมันต์ มักพาดพิงที่มาของ ส.ว.บ่อย ๆ จนทำให้นายกิตติศักดิ์ ประท้วง และดึงเรื่องหนี้ กยศ. มาตอบโต้นายรังสิมันต์ ให้สำเหนียกตัวเอง เพราะไม่ยอมชำระหนี้ จนนายรังสิมันต์ โต้แย้งกลับว่า ได้ชำระหนี้ กยศ.จนครบถ้วนแล้ว

คนดีศรีสภา65 
ปี 2565 นี้ ซึ่งถือเป็นปีที่ 4 ที่ผู้สื่อข่าวประจำรัฐสภา ยังไม่เห็นว่า จะมี ส.ส. หรือ ส.ว.คนใด เหมาะสมที่จะได้รับตำแหน่งดังกล่าว 

อย่างไรก็ตาม สื่อมวลชนขอเป็นกำลังใจให้ ส.ส. และ ส.ว.ที่ปฏิบัติหน้าที่เป็นอย่างดีอยู่แล้ว ให้มุ่งมั่น ตั้งใจปฏิบัติหน้าที่ต่อไป แต่ ส.ส. และ ส.ว.ที่บกพร่องในการทำหน้าที่ ขอให้ทบทวน ปรับปรุงตนเองให้ดียิ่งขึ้น เพื่อประโยชน์ของประเทศ และประชาชนต่อไป

วันนี้ประชุมสภา ประธานคาดว่า จะไม่มีปัญหา ‘สภาล่ม’

วันนี้ประชุมสภา ประธานคาดว่า จะไม่มีปัญหา 'สภาล่ม'

‘ประชุมสภา’ วาระพิเศษวันนี้ พักการพิจารณาร่างกฎหมายกัญชา ชวน หลีกภัย ประธานสภาผู้แทนราษฎร คาดว่า จะไม่มีปัญหาสภาล่ม

นับจากการเปิดประชุมสภาสมัยสามัญครั้งที่2 เมื่อวันที่ 1 พฤศจิกายนเป็นต้นมา รัฐบาลเผชิญปัญหาองค์ประชุมสภาไม่ครบ เฉพาะการประชุมสภาผู้แทนราษฎรมาแล้ว 6 ครั้ง


แต่หากนับตั้งแต่ต้นปี 2565 ถึงวันที่ 28 ธันวาคม เฉพาะการประชุมสภาผู้แทนราษฎร ประสบปัญหาสภาล่มมากว่า 10 ครั้ง โดยมีรายละเอียดดังนี้

Addictive rhythms and powerful choreography continued to propel K-pop up the global music charts in 2022. Korean artists have reached the top spot on the Billboard 200 – the ranking of the best-performing albums and EPs in the US – a record four times this year.

Stray Kids was the first Korean act to top the chart this year with its album “Oddinary,” followed by Blackpink, (G)I-idle, and RM.

Apart from the global chart-toppers, this year’s K-pop scene was undoubtedly dominated by the fourth generation girl groups such as NewJeans, IVE, (G)I-idle, Le Sserafim and Aespa.

In addition, the return of groups such as Big Bang, Girls’ Generation and Kara after several years of hiatus brought new energy to the industry.

Here is a list of 20 tracks that best capture 2022.

1. “Pink Venom” – Blackpink

Blackpink nabbed their first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with their latest full-length album “Born Pink” in early October, making them the first K-pop girl group to take the throne.

“Pink Venom” is the first single from the album, and infuses the group’s trademark hip-hop style with the sound of the Korean traditional instrument geomungo.

The single peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 chart for two weeks.

The song ends with a chaotic rhythm as the beat drops.

2. “Maniac” – Stray Kids

Stray Kids’ popularity grew by leaps and bounds with “Maniac,” the focus track from the EP “Oddinary,” which ranked No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

The EP also sold over 1 million copies, a first for both the band and its label JYP Entertainment.

Stray Kids said they tried to show their unique explosive power in a restrained manner for the song, but the track still carries Stray Kids’ trademark noisy backing and a killer hook.

3. “Hello” – Treasure

“Hello,” the lead track from Treasure’s second EP “The Second Step: Chapter Two,” is filled with a positive and energetic message that reflects the cheerful image of the group.

The dance song delivers cheerful vibes, with a bright mood overlaid with Treasure’s warm vocal colour.

Their label YG Entertainment’s characteristics pop out strongly in the chanted chorus with hip-hop elements.

This is the group’s first song without Bang Yedam and Mashiho, members who withdrew from the group a month after the release of “Hello.”

4. “Hype Boy” – NewJeans

NewJeans, the first girl group from the Ador label under K-pop powerhouse Hybe, made an impressive debut this year with their songs topping local charts.

The rookie group’s second single “Hype Boy” came with four different music videos.

The mid-tempo melodies and repetitive lyrics lead up to a catchy chorus, but what really made their track go viral was their refreshing and easy-to-follow dance, with choreography that looked back to the earliest generations of K-pop.

5. “Love Dive” – IVE

Another rookie girl group, IVE, has cemented its position in the K-pop scene with its second single, “Love Dive.”

The song is appealing and charismatic as it expresses the courage it takes to “dive into love” but what the girls really fall in love with is themselves.

The motif of this was the story of Narcissus, the figure from Greek mythology who was so impossibly handsome that he fell in love with his own image reflected from a lake.

The lyrics “Narcissistic, my god I love it” forms the hook of the song echoing like chants.

6. “INVU” – Taeyeon

The title track of the soloist Taeyeon’s third LP “INVU” is a pop-house tune. A synth harmony is overlaid with a melody that combines with the singer’s high-pitched vocals makes the storytelling more dramatic.

The lyrics say that the singer knows she will get hurt and tired of loving the people, but she will continue to love others nonetheless.

That is why she says “I envy you,” since others will stop loving her and abandon her, but she cannot do the same.

From beginning to end, it contains changes in emotions and personal maturity under an organic and dense musical design.

7. “_WORLD” – Seventeen

“_WORLD,” from the album “Sector 17,” is an R&B song with a funky rhythm and a sweet melody.

The song invites listeners into a “new world” with horn instrumentals, light disco influences, and soft and smooth vocals accentuating the “fresh teen” image that has represented Seventeen since its debut.

The highlight of the tune comes with Vernon’s rap, opening with the lines, “Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door / Run your fingertips over the whipped cream cloud.”

The light, flowy, and amicable song glides through the ears, definitely making it a pleasant track to listen to.

8. “Tomboy” – (G)I-dle

(G)I-dle comes back for ‘vengeance’ after a yearlong hiatus with its megahit song “Tomboy,” a rebellious pop-rock song with an ear-catching melody and eye-catching choreography.

In the song, the girls refuse to become the “blonde Barbie doll” they say men want them to be and instead choose to be tomboys.

The hook, which combines the members’ unique voices with a rough instrumental sound, and the addictive variation that flows out at the moment the atmosphere is heightened are the points to look out for.

9. “Wild Flower” – RM

BTS’ RM made a stunning debut as a solo artist with his album “Indigo” and the main track “Wild Flower” this year.

RM sings of wanting to live not like a firework but a wildflower, highlighting the artist’s fear of losing his love for music.

“Wild Flower” is composed of string instruments including a subtle guitar and percussion.

Vocalist Youjeen from the band Cherry Filter adds volume to the song by adding her powerful delivery to the explosive chorus.

“Wild Flower” reached No. 83 on the Billboard Hot 100.

10. “Dreamers” – Jung Kook

This year’s World Cup became more memorable for South Koreans thanks to “Dreamers” by BTS’ Jung Kook, adding to the national team’s success in make it to the last 16 for the first time in 12 years.

“Dreamers,” part of the Qatar World Cup’s Official Soundtrack, featured Qatari singer Fahad Al Kubaisi.

The track speaks of how people make dreams come true through self-determination and perseverance: “Look who we are, we are the dreamers, We make it happen, ’cause we believe it.”

The song debuted on Spotify’s Daily Viral Song chart in all 73 countries making Jung Kook and Japanese singer Fujii Kaze the only Asian musicians to achieve the milestone.

It’s the right time to eat like a king now where “high-end” durians are concerned. A kilo of Musang King, for example, is being sold for RM30 (234 baht) to RM45 (351 baht) per kilo, compared with last year’s price of RM80 (625 baht) to RM90 (782 baht) a kg.

And the wondrous, bittersweet XO variant, not commonly grown in Penang, is selling for as low as RM20 (156 baht) per kilo.

Previously, the price could go up to RM80 or RM100 during its peak season.

Penang’s durian season is typically from May to August.

Most of the durians sold here now come from Perak or Pahang, which are among the states that enjoy a short year-end durian season that lasts till next month.

But even after being transported here, a kilo of Musang King, for example, retailing for just RM30 to RM45 per kilo.

Durian seller Edward Lim, 30, said the durians are now cheap because of a bumper harvest in Pahang orchards.

“We get some from Tapah in Perak too, but the most popular ones are from Raub (Pahang),” said Lim, 30.

He said Pahang’s durian season started about two months ago and is expected to continue until the end of January.

The “lower grades” of Musang King, he said, cost about RM30 per kilo.

“And the same goes for other popular variants such as Teik Kah and Black Thorn.

“We are told that the lower price is also due to lower demand from China, which has been facing pandemic lockdowns and restrictions until recently,” he said.

Another durian seller, who only wanted to be known as Goh, said he is selling a kilo of top-grade Musang King by the roadside near Pulau Tikus market at RM45 per kilo.

“This is considered very cheap. Everyone who hasn’t tried Musang King because it’s expensive should really try now,” he said.

Durian farmer Nasir Sulaiman, 45, said the bumper crop of durian in Pahang is probably due to a change in the weather in the southern part of the peninsula.

“In April, the region experienced a bit of rain but through May and June, the weather was hot, which caused durian trees in Pahang to flower in abundance,” he said.

He said there are Musang King from Ipoh and central Perak, but those from Pahang are preferred because they are sweeter.

He hoped that durian prices would go up next year when durian fans, especially those from China, make a return following the easing of travel restrictions.

Incidentally, even the King and Queen took the chance to check out some durian stalls in Sungai Karang, Kuantan, last Sunday.

Istana Negara said in a Facebook post that Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah spent some time with the traders and chatted with visitors.

“His Majesty bought a meal as well as durian before departing for Abdulaziz Palace,” the post stated.

Cloud, real-time payments, and embedded finance are among seven key financial trends predicted for 2023, Mambu, a cloud banking platform, has revealed.

The prediction by the world’s leading financial services firms is included in Mambu’s annual “Partner Predictions” report, which highlights the top financial trends expected to influence the industry in 2023 as businesses try to survive and thrive in a volatile macroeconomic environment.

The report features insightful commentary from industry leaders from the fintech and financial services sectors, including executives from AWS, Backbase, Deloitte, Google Cloud, and others.

The participants share their perspectives on key issues that will shape the financial services sector in the coming year.

Mambu pointed out that banks’ focus on the payments theme will shift next year, with a greater emphasis on developing their own interface.

Rather than integrating their products into external platforms, this type of payment makes users more engaging, relevant, and interesting in order to increase brand loyalty.

Four other trends and issues expected to have a significant impact on the Asia Pacific financial services industry include the low code/no code approach, big tech in banking, environment, social, governance (ESG) and ethical impact finance, and the growth of data unlocking.

According to Mambu’s report, the low code/no code approach will empower digital banking teams to quickly protoype and launch without the need for complex development processes and specialised coding skill sets.

Many major Asian technology companies, such as Grab, Aeon, and the SEA Group, are now part of conglomerates with digital banking licences. This move by big tech will put pressure on banks to accelerate digital transformation.

“Customers now have higher expectations for their digital experiences,” according to the report, so traditional banks must collaborate with technology providers to provide more competitive banking services.

Meanwhile, a shift towards ESG across Asia Pacific will push traditional banks to offer more inclusive and customisable financial products and services, while also keeping sustainability in mind for the benefit of their customers, the report said.

In terms of data unlocking growth, Google Cloud predicts that by the end of 2025, more than 90% of all data generated by banks will be actionable in real time using machine learning.

“Financial institutions will reimagine themselves as “data companies with a banking licence in order to access previously locked innovation opportunities, such as one-hour home loans, green lending products, frictionless onboarding, and ultra-flexible, customer-centric products,” according to Google Cloud.

Pham Quang Minh, general manager of Mambu Thailand, said at the report’s release on Tuesday that some of these trends will gain traction, while others will be legally permitted to operate fully.

“2023 will certainly be a promising year for Thailand’s financial landscape. The spotlight will be on digital banks, which are expected to be fully licensed and start operating throughout 2023. We are looking forward to seeing how innovation can make financial services simpler, more inclusive and accessible for everyone,” he said.

According to Dan Jones, partner at Oliver Wyman Digital, digital banking in Southeast Asia is already more common than physical card payments and is on track to dominate point of sale (POS) overall.

“Some 72% of countries now have their own real-time payments (RTP) schemes, which I expect to extend across borders by 2023,” he said.

He explained that real-time cross-border payments are now uncommon, with only a few bilateral links between Singapore’s PayNow and Thailand, Malaysia, India, and the Philippines. However, multilateral agreements are on the way.

The governors of Asean central banks have signed an agreement for a true cross-border system based on QR codes.

Super-app ecosystems often include their own e-wallet offerings, such as WeChat and AliPay in China or Grab and GoTo in Southeast Asia, he pointed out.

Fernando Zandona, chief technology and product officer of Mambu, said that banks have to reinvent themselves and the end customers will decide which players will win.

Embracing technology will be one of the top approaches that financial services will need to survive and thrive, he said.

The Global Fund for Nature and World Wide Fund for Nature Cambodia (WWF) have called on authorities to step up night and day patrols of dolphin conservation areas and prevent illegal fishing, as a third Mekong Irrawaddy dolphin carcass was discovered in the span of one week.

This was the 11th dolphin found dead this year, bringing the total number to 29 in the past three years.

In a December 25 press release, WWF said that the mammal a day earlier was found floating near Koh Trong, about 10km downstream from Kampi pool, Kratie province.

The dead dolphin was an adult female, measuring 196cm long. It was between 7 and 10 years old and weighed about 93kg, it added.

A detailed examination of the carcass by a research team from the Kratie Fisheries Administration Cantonment and WWF concluded that the dolphin tragically passed away after becoming entangled with a longline fishing hook.

WWF country director Seng Teak said that the recent increase in illegal fishing activities in the dolphin conservation areas will cause the extirpation of the Irrawaddy dolphin in Cambodia if stronger action is not taken immediately.

“These tragic and preventable deaths of three healthy breeding aged dolphins in less than 10 days should send a clear message to all responsible levels of authorities, that the time is now to step up the law enforcement presence in all critical dolphin habitats,” he added.

“There are no other options except to immediately implement strict law enforcement to crack down on all types of illegal activities in the areas where dolphins live. To stop these activities, river guards and law enforcement officers need to be active 24/7, conducting both day and night patrols in the dolphin zones,” Teak urged.

He said that in addition to increased patrols, severe penalties should be imposed on the perpetrators of fishery crimes committed in the dolphin conservation zones, in order to deter others from continuing these illegal activities.

“If this crisis continues, the entire population will be lost in the near future,” Teak added.

Ministry of Environment spokesman Neth Pheaktra expressed regret at the loss of the dolphin.

“I deeply regret receiving the news of the death of this freshwater dolphin. The dolphin is the third healthy dolphin to die in just seven days, prompting an urgent call for stronger law enforcement in the dolphin conservation zone,” he added.

Irrawaddy dolphins (Orcaella brevirostris) are considered part of the living national heritage of Cambodia. Fewer than 90 of them live in the Mekong River between Kratie and Stung Treng provinces.

An inter-ministerial working group led by the environment ministry is preparing to submit a request to the World Heritage List to include the dolphin as a biodiversity resource.

“During the recent zero-snaring campaign, I mentioned that the campaign also included the Kingdom’s waterways, and called on people not to enter the restricted dolphin zone, because very few dolphins remain. If breeding-age specimens continue to die, we will end up losing them,” said Pheaktra.

The WWF said that the dry season, from December to May, is a critical period. As the water levels decrease, the dolphins and other species retreat to the deep pools of the dolphin zone. This makes them extremely vulnerable to illegal fishing. Strict law enforcement is especially needed during this time.

On December 22, another adult female was discovered dead in Koh Trong commune of Kratie province’s Kratie town. The body of an adult male was found floating in the river near the Koh Dambang deep pool area bordering Kratie and Stung Treng provinces on December 18. It was determined that both dolphins died after becoming entangled in fishing nets.

The price of many food and beverage products will rise early next year by an average of 18% between January and April next year, according to a survey of 105 major companies compiled by credit research firm Teikoku Databank, Ltd. as of Wednesday.

Price hikes will affect 7,152 items, more than 1.5 times the number from the same period this year, with some products such as frozen and wheat-based foods seeing a further increase.

Original figures compiled as of the end of November showed that 4,425 items would be affected by price hikes. However, the last 20 days have seen the number of products rise by 1.6 times. Manufacturers are believed to have pushed forward with further price increases in the face of higher costs in areas such as materials, transportation and labour.

February will see price hikes in 4,277 items, the largest number in a single month and the biggest since October when 6,699 prices increased. Ajinomoto Frozen Foods Co. will raise prices of dumplings and other frozen foods between 6% and 16%, while Nissui Corp.’s shipping costs for products including frozen foods and bento meals will increase between 6% and 25%.

Many frozen foods, wheat products, canned seafood, and fish cakes will experience price hikes again despite increases earlier this year. A total of 20,822 items are expected to see price hikes by the end of this year, with an average price increase of 14%.

After a weekend of cancelled flights and travel delays, storm-weary travellers in the US found themselves facing yet another challenge – tracking down their lost luggage. In airports around the country, thousands of bags have piled up, waiting for their rightful owners to claim them.

At Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Washington, DC, travellers went through a rollercoaster of emotions as they combed through rows of suitcases and duffel bags to find their missing luggage.

Diane Ohashi, a traveller who spent Christmas at an airport after her flight to Washington, DC was cancelled, was overwhelmed to find her missing suitcase that had presents for her brother.

“I came to see my brother and wanted to surprise him. And I got stuck in Dallas, and I spent Christmas by myself, and here I am. And I wasn’t expecting to find my luggage, and I literally had nothing. And Southwest didn’t want to pay for anything. They didn’t want to reimburse me. They didn’t want to put me in a hotel. So I dished out extra money to fly with American Airlines. And I finally got here. And I found my bags,” Ohashi said.

Some, like Marla Makowka, waited in a long line patiently to inquire about their lost luggage.

“It is what it is. It’s a big mess, but it’s okay. You know, it’s Christmas. It’s Christmas. Yeah. This is not these people’s fault I don’t know what happened in the world of Southwest in general, but, you know, I think it’s a time to be kind and generous and it is what it is. So I’ll stand, I’ll wait and it’ll show up when it shows up,” Makowka said.

Bill Gem, from Amarillo, Texas, raised his hands in the air and exclaimed, “yoo, hoo!” after a Southwest Airlines staff member found the last of his four pieces of luggage. “Has anyone given you a hug, saying thank you?” Gem said, hugging the staff member as she wheeled his luggage back to him.

An arctic blast and a massive winter storm dubbed Elliott swept over much of the United States in the lead-up to the Christmas holiday weekend, forcing Southwest and other airlines to scrap more than 12,000 flights since Friday.

Southwest Airlines on Tuesday led US airline cancellations again as the low-cost carrier struggled with harsh winter weather that grounded planes and left some workers unable to tend to jets, disrupting holiday travel for many.

Suitcases were amassed in Sacramento airport‘s terminal on Monday (December 26).

An eyewitness also captured on Tuesday hundreds of suitcases and bags stranded at Chicago’s Midway Airport after weather woes brought massive flight cancellations across the United States.

The travel disruptions carried into Tuesday (December 27) as Southwest Airlines Co led US airline cancellations.

The carrier had cancelled 2,589 flights as of Tuesday 2.25 pm ET (1925GMT) or roughly two-thirds of its schedule, representing 86% of all US airline cancellations, according to tracking website FlightAware.

Additionally, Southwest called off about 2,500 flights scheduled for Wednesday (December 28) and over 1,000 flights from its Thursday (December 29) schedule.

The airline’s cancellations on Tuesday were 30 times more than those of Spirit Airlines, the carrier with the second-most cancellations.

Shares of Southwest fell as much as 6.3% to a two-month low of $33.81.

The company has a more aggressive schedule than most other U.S. airlines and tighter turnaround times to accommodate its network that connects vast swathes of the country.

It earns most of its profits from flying domestically and unlike other large US carriers, Southwest relies more on point-to-point service instead of operating out of large hubs. That leaves its staff vulnerable to being stranded in case of disruptions.

In total, airlines have cancelled more than 5,000 U.S. flights for Tuesday and Wednesday.

President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday delivered Russia’s long-awaited response to a Western price cap, signing a decree that bans the supply of crude oil and oil products from Feb. 1 for five months to nations that impose the cap.

The Group of Seven major powers, the European Union and Australia agreed this month to a $60-per-barrel price cap on Russian seaborne crude oil effective from Dec. 5 over Moscow’s “special military operation” in Ukraine.

The decree, published on a government portal and the Kremlin website, was presented as a direct response to “actions that are unfriendly and contradictory to international law by the United States and foreign states and international organizations joining them.”

“Deliveries of Russian oil and oil products to foreign entities and individuals are banned, on the condition that in the contracts for these supplies, the use of a maximum price fixing mechanism is directly or indirectly envisaged,” the decree stated, referring specifically to the United States and other foreign states that have imposed the price cap.

The decree, which includes a clause that allows Putin to overrule the ban in special cases, stated: “This…comes into force on Feb. 1, 2023, and applies until July 1, 2023.”

Crude oil exports will be banned from Feb. 1, but the date for the oil products ban will be determined by the Russian government and could be after Feb. 1.

The price cap, unseen even in the times of the Cold War between the West and the Soviet Union, is aimed at crippling Russian state coffers and Moscow‘s military efforts in Ukraine.

Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said on Tuesday that Russia’s budget deficit could be wider than the planned 2% of GDP in 2023, with the oil price cap squeezing export income, an extra fiscal hurdle for Moscow as it spends heavily on its military campaign in Ukraine.

However, some analysts have said that the cap will have little immediate impact on the oil revenues that Moscow is currently earning.
