Indonesian football lovers hesitant to kick again despite relaxation of pandemic restrictions #SootinClaimon.Com

Indonesian football lovers hesitant to kick again despite relaxation of pandemic restrictions

Playing football like the old days is still a wild thought amid the pandemic, though limited sports activities are allowed following eased restrictions from Level 4 to Level 3 in Indonesia.

Bernard Budiman, a healthcare entrepreneur from Jakarta, has been itching to play football again.

Since the implementation of the public activity restrictions in the islands of Java and Bali, locally known as PPKM, indoor and outdoor sports facilities were closed in accordance with PPKM Level 4, the highest level of restrictions.

Yet, even as the restrictions have been lowered from Level 4 to Level 3 in Jakarta, meaning limited sports activities are now allowed, Budiman remains hesitant to resume playing.

“I really miss football, but I think it’s still too early to participate in outdoor sports,” Budiman told Xinhua.

The Indonesian government announced to extend PPKM in Java and Bali for another week to Sept. 6 during a virtual press conference in Jakarta on Monday. President Joko Widodo said that there are now 25 municipalities in Java and Bali which are still implementing Level 4 restrictions, compared to last week’s 51.

Under the latest Level 3 rules, sports facilities in open spaces are allowed to reopen with 50 percent capacity and masks are required to be worn at all times, except for sports such as swimming.

Budiman has been conducting shooting drills and footwork practice with one or two of his friends in his backyard, where he owns a goalpost.

They used to play on football pitches located in South Jakarta. According to Budiman, the pitches are now open and available to rent again.

Related Stories

The last time Devin Buana, a recent university graduate living in Jakarta, played football was in June. Several members from his football community were tested positive for COVID-19 shortly after the group’s last session in the Senayan area at Central Jakarta.

Before the pandemic, Buana used to play as often as twice to three times a week.

Buana shares a similar concern with Budiman, which is the fact that the COVID-19 pandemic would be easily contracted from the constant physical contact and close breathing that occur during a football game.

Xaviera Naomi, an Indonesian college student in the United States who is currently back in Jakarta, started playing football with her high school friends at a mini soccer pitch in South Jakarta on Friday.

“We put masks on at all times and play four versus four games. Last weekend, a total of twelve players came, with eight playing in the field and four sitting on the bench,” Naomi explained.

She added that all of their temperatures’ were checked upon entry, and seats were socially distanced.

Moving forward, Budiman said that he will start playing football again when the government achieves its target of vaccinating 208.2 million people across the country by January 2022.

“Building herd immunity is the only solution for the resumption of group sports activities,” he said.

Takehiro Tomiyasu, who is gearing up for Japans World Cup qualifiers against Oman and China, has joined Arsenal from Bologna.

Japan international Takehiro Tomiyasu has joined Arsenal from Serie A side Bologna on a long-term contract, the English Premier League club announced on Tuesday.

Tomiyasu, 22, first came to Europe in 2018 with an 18-month spell at Belgian club Sint-Truiden. The defender then moved to Bologna in July 2019, making 63 appearances in his two seasons with the Italian side.

Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta described Tomiyasu as “a versatile defender with great defensive qualities, high technical ability and composure on the ball.”

“He will be an important member of our squad. We look forward to Takehiro joining up with us when he returns from international duty,” said the Spaniard.

Tomiyasu has represented Japan at all levels from under-16s through to the senior side. He is part of Japan’s squad to play two matches in the final round of FIFA World Cup Asian qualifiers in September.

Stamp Fairtex on Alyona Rassohyna Rematch: I’ll try to knock her out fast #SootinClaimon.Com

Stamp Fairtex on Alyona Rassohyna Rematch: I’ll try to knock her out fast

Former two-sport ONE World Champion Stamp Fairtex is a woman on a mission. The 23-year-old Pattaya, Thailand native has long aspired to win her third ONE World Title in as many sports, by capturing a belt in mixed martial arts competition.

This Friday night, Stamp can move one step closer to achieving that lofty goal.

Stamp, who is ranked #4 at atomweight, is one of eight women who are set to participate in the highly anticipated ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix. She faces Ukrainian rival, #3-ranked atomweight contender Alyona Rassohyna in the quarterfinal round at ONE: EMPOWER on September 3, live from the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Stamp and Rassohyna battled to a controversial finish last February, with the latter forcing a late-game submission victory, albeit controversially. Stamp appeared to have tapped to a guillotine choke with less than 10 seconds remaining in the third round.

The Thai warrior immediately protested the stoppage as soon as she broke free from the hold. Despite the loss, Stamp acknowledges just how difficult of a challenge Rassohyna poses to her ambitions.

“It will be a tougher fight for me this time around, for sure. I know her now, and she knows me. She’ll make some adjustments and so will I. However, I think her cardio isn’t too good, so I’ll try to knock her out as fast as I can,” said Stamp.

“I know what I can do in the Circle, and I’m planning to go back to my strengths, which is going back to my striking rather than my ground game. She’s a great grappler. I’ve improved a lot with my takedown and submission defense, because we don’t know how this fight will go.”

Related Stories

Stamp has done quite well so far in her time in the Circle. The former atomweight kickboxing and Muay Thai queen has five wins so far in MMA, with only one defeat. Four of those five victories have ended inside the distance.

Against Rassohyna, Stamp admits she needs to be cautious of her opponent’s high level ground game so as not to make the same mistake in the first fight. Instead, Stamp plans to return to her roots and use her strengths to her advantage.

“The armbar is still her biggest threat, but I believe she’s coming into this fight more improved all around. I can’t underestimate her,” Stamp said.

“There’s no doubt the ground game will be the most difficult aspect of this fight. But I’ll focus on striking because this is my strength, especially my elbow and knee strikes. Whether I win this fight by decision or by knockout, I have to win. I’m determined to.”

ONE: EMPOWER is ONE Championship’s historic, all-female fight card featuring only women — the first for a major global martial arts organization.

In the main event, reigning ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan defends her World Title against #2-ranked strawweight contender, Michelle Nicolini.

A hidden gem in Pattaya

The Khon Mask Museum in Pattaya’s Nong Nooch Tropical Garden does not just give visitors a chance to check out its collection of 506 masks, but also offers a demonstration of how they are made.

The Khon Mask Museum, nestled in Pattaya’s Nong Nooch Tropical Garden, does not just display a variety of Khon masks but also demonstrates how they are made.
Established in 2017, the museum now boasts 506 masks – 24 ancient ones, 108 related to Thai beliefs and 374 for characters of the Ramakien – Thailand’s version of the Indian epic, Ramayana.

Kampon Tansacha, president of the company that owns the garden, said the museum was built in line with his mother’s wishes to preserve Thailand’s national art.

“My mother wanted the tropical garden to serve as a learning centre for Thai people. We believe children should be brought here so they can learn about this art form,” Kampon said.

BGRIM to explore gas-fired power plants, renewable energy and smart grid development in Asia Industrial Estate #SootinClaimon.Com

BGRIM to explore gas-fired power plants, renewable energy and smart grid development in Asia Industrial Estate

The accord applies to the Asia Industrial Estate (Suvarnabhumi) in Bang Bo District which AIE operates jointly with the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT).

B.Grimm Power PCL (BGRIM) and Asia Industrial Estate Co Ltd (AIE) have agreed to explore the feasibility of developing natural gas-fired and renewable energy power plants, and integrated intelligent power transmission network at the latter’s industrial park in Samut Prakan.

Dr. Harald Link, Chairman and President of BGRIM, and Chali Sophonpanich, President of AIE, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to jointly pursue the cooperation.

The accord applies to the Asia Industrial Estate (Suvarnabhumi) in Bang Bo District which AIE operates jointly with the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT). Covering an area of more than 4,000 rai, the industrial estate is ideal for industries related to automotive, auto parts, foods, pharmaceutical, logistics, e-commerce and data center operations.

It is ideal because the estate’s strategic location being only about 40 km away from Bangkok’s business district, 20 km from the Suvarnabhumi Airport and Lad Krabang Sorting and Packing Station, 54 km from Klong Toey Port and 85 km from Laem Chabang Port.

The industrial estate is easily accessible by two main routes: Bangna-Trad Road (through Rattanakosin 200-Year Road) and Bangkok-Chon Buri Motorway (through the Peng Road which is now regarded as the main route from Bangkok to Chachoengsao Province and has its traffic lanes expanded to four and six lanes). The industrial estate is home to large-scale operators like Hino Motors Manufacturing (Thailand) Co Ltd, NGK Ceramics (Thailand) Co Ltd and Thai-Yazaki Electric Cable Co Ltd.

Dr Link said the collaboration with AIE supports BGRIM’s drive to elevate its position as a leading industrial power producer and enhancing its competitive edge.

BGRIM’s planned facilities in the industrial estate will offer high quality energy supplies directly to customers through a trading mechanism bypassing state-run power utilities using the ‘Smart Grid’ developed by BGRIM. The company has trialled the energy trading system at BGRIM’s buildings and various industrial estates, he added.

BGRIM has earlier set up a pilot study project to develop a smart grid system linking Amata City Industrial Estate in Chon Buri Province with Bangkadi Industrial Park. The scheme integrates various power generation sources including natural gas-fired plants, renewable energy generators like floating solar and solar rooftops with electric vehicles charging stations and energy storage systems (ESS).

Also under the project is upgrading transmission lines and modernising various systems to become intelligent to support technological developments and adaptation of the 5G technology. The project will be implemented in phases.

Dr Link noted that this cooperation with AIE is very much in line with BGRIM’s strategy to expand its transmission and distribution business in the region. The company has built and controlled power transmission and distribution systems in nine industrial estates in Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia to establish infrastructure foundations necessary for the development of ‘Smart City’ in the future.

To date, BGRIM has 50 power plants in commercial operation. The company aims to ramp up its total installed capacity from 3,058 MW at the end of 2020 to at least 7,200 MW of secured PPA by 2025 and further to 10,000 MW by 2030 with an annual revenue of more than 100 billion baht being targeted.
